Cultivos Patria Mía: Fruit and Vegetable Farming in Cidra
At Levantando.org, we are pleased to introduce Cultivos Patria Mía, a 10-acre farm located in Cidra, Puerto Rico. This husband-and-wife team specializes in cultivating healthy and clean traditional Puerto Rican crops such as Recao, Aji dulce, papayas, citrus fruits, plantains, and root vegetables.
Farming Practices: “At Cultivos Patria Mía, we grow our products using natural and environmentally friendly methods. We focus on maintaining soil and plant health through sustainable practices. Our goal is to provide fresh and healthy food to our community by cultivating local varieties that are integral to Puerto Rican cuisine.”
Volunteer Day with Levantando.org: Recently, a volunteer day was organized with Levantando.org where various activities were carried out to improve the farm. “During this day, we completed the construction of two 40-foot long raised beds,” the farmers comment. We also transported, mixed, and spread 160 square feet of soil for the raised beds. Additionally, 96 pots of Aji Dulce peppers, as well as onions, peppers, romaine lettuce, and arugula, were planted in the raised beds.
Impact of Levantando.org: The support of Levantando.org has been invaluable for the development and expansion of Cultivos Patria Mía. “Thanks to the collaboration and resources provided by Levantando, we have been able to implement significant improvements on our farm, enhancing our agricultural performance. The participation of volunteers and access to proper tools have been fundamental to the success of our farming operations.”
With continued support from Levantando.org, Cultivos Patria Mía continues to strengthen its commitment to offering high-quality food and promoting sustainable agriculture in Puerto Rico. We are proud to contribute to the preservation of traditional farming practices and to provide fresh and nutritious products to our local community.

Are you a commercial composter in Puerto Rico?
Please let us know at info@levantando.org so we can learn about you and let our network of growers and producers know about your product..
This laboratory testing is expensive. The lab tests run $375, plus overnight shipping with morning delivery of the sample on-ice runs another $100+. Staff time to navigate APHIS approval to ship compost to the US requires several hours of hoop-jumping. To the best of our knowledge, most commercial composters do not regularly test their products, which puts the risk of poor quality on the backs of growers. Levantando.org is pleased to be able to offer the testing and results as part of our mission to serve small, sustainable farmers and communities in Puerto Rico. If you would like to help defray these costs with a donation, your help is appreciated.
